Cloud Dough Messy Play Activity

Messy Play is fun, relaxing, and allows rhythmic movements of the whole body – great for relieving tension and frustration. Messy Play allows children to express their feelings in a creative way. There is no right or wrong way, we can relax and enjoy the process. Patterns can be drawn and just as quickly erased.

Your children will love the texture and possibilities this recipe has.

INGREDIENTS:

• 8 cups Flour
• 1 cup Vegetable oil
• Heaping tbsp. non-toxic Tempera paint powder
• Potato masher or pastry cutter and wooden spoon

METHOD:

In a large bowl, stir together the flour and vegetable oil. Add the tempera paint powder, stir, then use a pastry cutter or potato masher to work the dough for several minutes until the colour is uniform and the ingredients are soft, silky and well-mixed.

You can even incorporate some natural resources into this activity for an added sensory experience. You can use anything from pebbles, shells, feathers, pine cones etc. A wonderful way to get children excited is to let them pick the natural resources from the garden. This can be a wonderful sensory experience and confidence booster.
